Arphymedes Plus project aims to address the following:
Increased access to success in a core STEM subject for students with SEN - achieved by integrating the arts and game based learning into the educational process - via multimodal use of visual supports with AR, and by rearranging the abstract concepts of physics around a narrative story of how physics discoveries were made and how they are currently implemented.
Increased active participation of SEN students in physics class - by creating a protected “virtual laboratory space” without accessibility barriers.
Facilitate the process of streamlining opportunities in engagement and positive experience with STEM for SEN students resulting in higher interest in STEM careers.
To achieve those aims the project will deliver four intellectual outputs:
IO1: Student book - Multimedia version - a version that will include a broad range of tools to support students with moderate to severe specific learning difficulties, or limited vision and mobility.
IO2: Teachers’ and parents book - every chapter will have description of learning outcomes, core instructions, demonstrations, visuals (AR), differentiated instructions, problems with solutions, challenges for critical thinking, assessment tools, and specialised support.
IO3: Application with AR modules - a full and immersive experience with the explorative learning content of the AR application.
IO4: Teachers’ training programme - will provide practical guidelines on how to use the educational toolkit (O1, O2, O3) in a class environment, as well as in vocational training.
